Pinellas County Trash Part II

A St. Petersburg nursing home resident was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he yanked a woman out of her wheelchair because she turned on the television while he was sleeping, according to authorities.

John Wesley Brenner, 52, was charged with abusing or neglecting an aged or disabled person. He was being held at the Pinellas County Jail this morning on $10,000 bail.

Brenner was asleep when a 39-year-old disabled woman he lives with at Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 3456 21st St. S., turned on the television about 2 p.m., arrest affidavits say. He slapped the woman's hands, grabbed her by her shirt and pulled her out of her wheelchair, the affidavits say.

After police arrived, Brenner claimed the woman stood up out of her wheelchair and slapped him in the face, but a patrol officer did not believe that rendition as the woman was incapable of getting out of the wheelchair on her own, the affidavits say.
