Happy Father's Day, Papa LaFayette!

There are three words that remind me of my Father:

1. Bumberchute - my Father's term for an umbrella, ella, ella...
2. Jacques Penne' - because JC Penney was just too simple.
3. Petunia - his nickname for me for as long as I can remember.

My Father is the quintessential 'Dad'. Growing up, he was the bread-winner, the Disciplinarian, the Gardener, the Banker, the Mr. Fix-it.

Thanks for everything Papa LaFayette, even picking me up from the skating rink dressed in your hat, trench coat and socks. Wearing long pants under that coat, rather than shorts, would have been appreciated, but at least it gave the other kids something to snicker about...
